Welcome to www.fightsuicide.com! This page was created to provide information about an 8-week peer-facilitated suicide attempt survivor support group in the Denver-metro area (which is available below).
As the facilitator of the support group, I want to take a moment to say how glad I am that you’re still here! It takes courage to reach out and seek help, especially when you’re currently struggling. I know because I’ve been where you are right now. Ten years ago, I attempted suicide, and for years I lived with suicidal thoughts that I have now learned to manage. There is hope for recovery and a healthy life after a suicide attempt!
If you don’t live in the Denver metro area, I’d like to direct you to our resources page because it has resources available across the United States. (There is a listing of international crisis hotlines available here.)
Choose Life! 8-Week Support Group
Support for adults who have survived a suicide attempt or who have ongoing suicidal thoughts (also known as suicidal ideation or SI).
Choose Life! is an 8-week peer-facilitated support group that provides an opportunity to meet and talk to others who have survived a suicide attempt in a safe, confidential, non-judgmental and sigma-free environment. The group also teaches skills that can help with coping with suicidal thoughts and feelings in order to stay safe in the future. Optional recreational group activities outside regular group meetings including a group community service project provide opportunities to foster growth, increase self-esteem, and offer members a chance to give back to the community while building a larger support system, increase their protective factors, and promote further healing.
Choose Life! meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. The cost is $25/session or $150 for the 8-week session if pre-paid in advance. This includes all course materials, activities, and light refreshments at each meeting. (This doesn’t include outside optional class activities which may incur an additional cost.)
Regular attendance is required to facilitate group and individual healing.
Please contact Charlotte Tankersley at (720) 745-9252 or firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or to schedule an intake interview for the next group which is forming now!
